According to the continuous request of the people of Kummannoor Mangalaram, which comes under Cherpumkal Mar Sleeva Parish, there started a small chapel. The people of this area wanted to have a convent here in order to deepen the people in faith, good formation of the children and their spiritual growth. They requested the Provincial Superior for this purpose, 45 cents of land was contributed by Mlavil family and began the construction. On 16th June 1996 a convent was established here named as "Infant Jesus Convent".
    The silent atmosphere   of this village was very suitable for religious formation. So in 1996 itself started the postulancy of 11 candidates. Later years also, here continued to have at least one phase of the formation.
    Afterwards the small chapel became St. Sebastian's Parish Church and Mangalaram became a parish. Now there is an ICSE School also with classes upto X and a nursery school   also. Sisters actively participate in the activities of the school and in the pastoral services of the parish, sisters take the leadership in prayer fellowship of the parish , Legion of Mary, Alphonsa Garden, KCSL etc. Every week children are given good books for reading from the convent library and thus help them to get knowledge and spiritual thoughts.
