When many students of the St. Mary's Girls School wanted to stay in the boarding and study, the present boarding house was not enough for the purpose. So it became necessary that another boarding house was to be constructed. So a plot of land was purchased near Lalam New Church and constructed a new building where 120 girls could stay comfortably. Thus on 5th January 1983 Sanjo Hostel came into existence. Though a few sisters also began to stay there to look after the girls the hostel was under the administration of the Lalam Convent. In 1991 more sisters were sent here and this house was declared a convent. Students from St. Mary's School, those who are studying in different parallel colleges of Pala and children who attend the Medical-Engineering Entrance coaching, stay here. Now there are 9 sisters and 110 children. Sisters take care in their studies, security and spiritual lives. In their problems and difficulties sisters help them and strengthen them by counseling and prayers.
     A few sisters of their community are teaching. Sisters are very active in all the activities of the parish. They give leadership to certain organisations like KCYM and CML. They are very active in faith formation, family fellowship,    preparing children for receiving sacraments, singing in the church. The hostel children are enlightened by prayer groups, meditation, Rosary procession, classes for personality development etc.
