Provincial Superior Sr. Lisa Martin wished to start an institution for poor and destitute children at Kannadiurump, where our founding mothers stayed first, in memory of the golden Jubilee of Pala Alphonsa Province. It was approved by the Provincial Synaxis and started a hostel for this purpose. It was named "Rani Maria Hostel" after Sr. Rani Maria who was murderd while working for the good of the Adivasis of Udayanagar in Indore. The number of children increased every year and more sisters and a house was necessary to attend to their needs . As a result Rani Maria Convent was established there in2005.
     There    are 60 children here, who are of different ages and studying in different schools. The main apostolate of the sisters here is to take care of the children, in their studies, character formation, and to help them and encourage them in all their needs and difficulties. Also it is the responsibility of the sisters to see to their food , clothes, treatment etc. They are given classes counseling from time to time. Along with this the sisters help in house visits, ward prayers and proclamation of the Word of God in the Cathedral Parish of Pala.
